The Search for the Moonlight Pouch
A warm adventure about Tori, a small squirrel, who sets out with forest friends to find the missing Moonlight Pouch.
Little Tori the squirrel loved climbing to the top of the oak tree every dewy morning to look over the forest. That day, Tori curled his tail around his paws and noticed something strange. The flower petals drooped, the stream whispered very softly, and the path that usually sparkled at night looked pale and dim.
Grandmother Owl fluttered down with worried wings. “Oh dear, Tori. The Moonlight Pouch that brightens our night paths has disappeared. ” Tori’s eyes grew round. Without the pouch, the baby hedgehogs might not find their way home after sunset.

Tori packed three acorns and a warm moss blanket in his tiny bag. “I will look for it,” he said. Mimi, a shy rabbit, and Bong-Bong, a frog who loved to sing, decided to come too. The three friends followed the trail where a few little glimmers still blinked between the roots.
At the end of the trail stood a hill wrapped in soft fog. The fog was so thick they could not see their own noses. Mimi whispered, “I’m scared. ” Tori gently held her paw and said, “Then we will take one step together. ” Bong-Bong sang a small, wobbly song, and the fog opened bit by bit, as if it were listening.
Beyond the hill, the friends found a baby cloud crying behind a fern. In its fluffy arms was a pouch with a silver string. “I thought it was the moon’s toy,” sobbed the cloud. “But it is too heavy, and now I can’t float home.” Tori did not scold. He offered an acorn and said, “It’s all right. Let’s put it back together. Then everyone can find their way.”

The friends carried the Moonlight Pouch between them. Mimi listened for the wind with her quick ears, Bong-Bong sang so they would not lose the path, and Tori walked in front, counting shiny stones. At last they hung the pouch on the tallest oak branch, and gentle silver light poured down every forest path.
That night, the baby hedgehogs followed the glowing trail safely home. Grandmother Owl patted Tori’s head and said, “Even small feet can travel far when they carry a brave heart.” Tori shared the moss blanket with his friends, and together they smiled under the moonlight. The forest fell asleep again, warm, bright, and peaceful.
